2. As I amuse myself At my lack of prospect There was a ringing in my ear Alerted by this assumption Of unintended interrupt I asked patience of my sibling And to the door I swayed My heart beating fiercely In my chest For fear that I might be correct |
3. Opening my garden gates I saw a stranger standing He asked my name With sweet compose I rattled that which Claimed my person Told he me I had a gift Flowers! The word brought a certain Bliss to my heart |

Gladly did I receive this Sweet smelling gift Fingers pounced upon the claim Eyes seeking to find the name Mom, it read to my surprise Revealed within my rounded eyes But oh the joy did still exist As I brushed the roses to my lips |

Then carnations and more I know not the names But, Mother I thank you Just the same Lessons are often taught in love By many we encounter This lesson I shall ne'er forget When Valentines returns next year I'll remember love is more Than sweethearts |
